At the Veterans Employment Program (VEP), we know the shift from military to civilian life can feel daunting. That’s why we’re here to help you navigate the transition with confidence and purpose.

Led by an all-veteran team, VEP offers personalized support to help you find meaningful employment and access the resources needed to thrive. Our mission is to ensure every veteran in Silicon Valley has the tools and opportunities to build a stable, fulfilling future.

Who We Serve

VEP is open to veterans who:

  • Served any length of time in active duty
  • Are currently unemployed or underemployed and actively seeking work
  • Have a discharge characterization that is not dishonorable
  • Are willing to stay engaged with their VEP support team

PROGRAM IMPACT

Veteran Family Services has supported hundreds of veterans across Santa Clara County in securing safe, stable housing and rebuilding their lives with dignity. In 2024, we exceeded our goals by assisting 87 Veteran households, surpassing our target of 55. That momentum has continued into 2025, with 67 households already served and more on the way.

Veteran Status (provide one of the following):
  • DD214
  • VA ID card or other official documentation confirming veteran status

  • Verification from the SQUARES system

Household Income (for all household members):
  • Two months of recent pay stubs

  • Most recent tax return (Form 1040)

  • Documentation for disability, pension, or retirement income

Identification & Family Information:
  • Government-issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, or state ID) for each household member

  • Birth certificates or custody papers to confirm dependents

  • Social Security cards for all household members

Housing Verification:
  • Lease agreement, or

  • A letter from a shelter, institution, or transitional housing provider

QUALIFYING FOR SUPPORT

To participate in Veteran Family Services, the head of household—or their spouse—must be a U.S. veteran, and the household must meet low-income guidelines (at or below 80% of the area median income).
