Retail Apprenticeship Program

at Goodwill of Silicon Valley

The Apprenticeship Program helps combine work experience with apprenticeship training to develop knowledge and skills of the apprentice in retail marketing, management, and operations through certifications that employers value. This 12-month program helps apprentices take what they learn in their formal training courses and put it into practice at a Goodwill of Silicon Valley retail store and beyond, all with the support of a personalized mentor. There are three components to the apprenticeship program: on-the-job training, related supplemental instruction (in the form of community college course work), and mentorship for success in the program. Apprentices can earn certificates from the U.S. Department of Labor and the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards; they also can earn college credits and a business certificate through Foothill College. The Apprenticeship Program provides a growth opportunity for their employees and serves as just one of the many ways that Goodwill of Silicon Valley works to live out our mission of improving lives through work.

Goodwill of Silicon Valley will not discriminate against apprenticeship applicants or apprentices based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), sexual orientation, genetic information, or because they are an individual with a disability or a person 40 years old or older.

Goodwill of Silicon Valley will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, part 30.
